asa & darcy’s wedding // seattle, washington

This wedding was truly Seattle-centric, and that’s exactly how Asa & Darcy wanted it. They both came into town from living abroad before they set off on more international adventures together, and chose Seattle mainly because they loved this city… and especially loved the food! Every time I spoke to Darcy on the phone, she would always somehow be able to steer the conversation to where they would be eating during their visit here (all amazing places, so she knew her shit!), and on the day of their wedding I couldn’t resist her when she sweetly asked me, “Can we please stop at Cupcake Royale on our way to the wedding?”

People after my own heart…

When I say “Seattle-centric,” here’s what I mean! They got ready at Hotel Ballard, we had a pit-stop at Cupcake Royale, the wedding ceremony happened at the ol’ Ballard First Lutheran (two blocks from my house!), we did their portraits at Kerry Park–which I usually say a resounding heck no to, but again, how could I resist their contagious excitement about this city I love?!–and then they had their reception at renowned Canlis Restaurant, one of the longest standing & arguably best restaurants in Seattle. Their favors were from Theo Chocolate, and they even made sure that the wines served were Washington only. It was outstanding.

But aside from their love of this beautiful city, their love for each other was immense. It was wonderful to spend the day with a gathering of people from near & far but mostly from afar, who came to celebrate love, and to celebrate in style. I think this wedding would be described as classic & simple, but it was the love that really stood out for me.

Special thanks to my favorite wedding planner Holly-Kate Foss, and to my assistant Amy Kiel who saved my ass that day more than once I’m sure!
